Helping Girls Learn Skills and Build Confidence Through Sewing
Helping one to help others. Our sewing project at Watoto Unity Foundation Tanzania (WUFT). The girls are learning how to sew, how to work with fabric, and how to make useful items like reusable sanitary pads. But this project is about much more than sewing.
A Place Where Girls Feel Safe to Learn
In this room, the girls feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged. They help each other, listen to their trainers, and practice new skills with confidence. You can see their focus and excitement as they learn step by step.
Learning About Their Bodies and Health
Along with sewing, the girls also learn about menstrual
health and sexual and reproductive health. Many of them do not get
this information at home or in school.
So this training helps them understand their bodies, stay healthy, and take
care of themselves with dignity.
Skills That Change Their Future
By the end of the program, the girls can: Sew reusable pads,
Make clothes and other small items, Use their skills to start a small business
and Support themselves and their families and These simple skills can open
doors for their future.
Changing Lives, One Stitch at a Time
Each girl who joins the sewing project gains confidence and
hope. She learns something valuable that she can use for the rest of her life.
And when one girl is empowered, her whole family and community benefit too.
This is what we do at WUFT, we help young girls grow, learn, and believe
in themselves.
